Concordant View on "destroy*" (AV)

What you will see in the image below is the Concordant View (CV) function of ISA version 2. For this demo we have put a small part of the AV (King James Version) in one of the sublinears of ISA in order to compare it with the other sublinears. (More about the Concordant View.)

Note that the word "destroy" in the AV is a translation of different Greek words. You can verify that by the different Strong's number and Lemma. The AV_Std1 column is a list of words with the same Strongs number in the AV. It is also shown in the StrongNote function in ISA.

The AV rendering 'destroy', being used for different Greek words, unfortunately leads to loss of information. But that is not all, the reader will read the English word 'destroy' in contexts which has nothing to do with destroy. The concept 'destroy' will unconsciously stretch in scope and thereby becoming hazier in definition in the mind of the reader. This kind of discordant translation gives room for interpretations which in reality do not exist.

The CGES_id sublinear is a reflection of the Concordant Literal New Testament, or the CLV translation module, in ISA. In a few occasions a Greek word has to be rendered by more than one word for the sake of idiom, just like the AV does. But in the CGES_id there is no cross-link between other Greek words.

This is nicely illustrated by the Std_L1 column. Next to the Elements, the idiomatic variants are shown. The CLV translation is subordinate to these words only. If you look closely at the Concordant View you will note that there is no cross-link with other Strong's numbers or Lemmas.
